The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has confirmed the conviction of Abubakar Sadick, popularly known as Cyborg, for unlawfully discharging a firearm at the AfroFuture concert in Accra.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, December 31, the Director-General of the CID, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, disclosed that Sadick was convicted by a court of competent jurisdiction and fined GH¢24,000. According to her, the fine has been paid in full.

COP Donkor further revealed that the court has withdrawn Sadick’s firearm licence as part of the sanctions imposed.

The conviction follows Sadick’s arrest after a video went viral on social media showing him firing multiple gunshots during the high-profile music event. The incident sparked public outrage and raised concerns about safety at public gatherings.

Sadick later admitted to firing the weapon but claimed the act was meant as a tribute to Nigerian musician Asake, who was performing on stage at the time.
