A coordinated early-morning security operation has led to the arrest of 141 suspected cybercrime operatives in Lashibi and Tabora, as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle organised cybercrime networks in the country.

The operation, conducted on Saturday, December 27, targeted syndicates involved in Mobile Money (MoMo) fraud and other cyber-enabled financial crimes in parts of Accra.

It was carried out jointly by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), the Ghana Police Service, National Security and the Ghana Immigration Service, following intelligence-led investigations.

Addressing the development, Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mr Samuel George, disclosed that some Ghanaians were complicit in harbouring and facilitating the activities of foreign nationals involved in cybercrime.

Investigations into the activities of the suspects are ongoing, while security agencies say further operations will be carried out nationwide to clamp down on cyber-related crimes.
