Ernesto Yeboah, Commander-in-Chief of the Economic Fighters League Ernesto Yeboah, Commander-in-Chief of the Economic Fighters League

Ernesto Yeboah, Commander-in-Chief of the Economic Fighters League, has issued a stern warning to President John Dramani Mahama.

Yeboah has warned the President to ignore calls from within his party to pursue a third term, asserting that such a move would lead to deep regret.

He warned that any attempt by the president to extend his tenure would be met with fierce public resistance.

He predicted that such a move could trigger a civil uprising, potentially forcing the president out of office.

”Anyone who truly loves Ghana would not suggest that President Mahama seek another term,” Yeboah stated.

He dismissed such suggestions as “pure sycophancy”, insisting that the President must preserve his legacy by exiting office when his constitutional mandate concludes.

”If Mahama wants to leave behind a lasting legacy, he should resist that temptation because any attempt will destroy it. Look at what nearly happened in Benin. President Mahama should be guided by that because it can happen here in Ghana.”

When asked specifically if Ghana would witness an uprising should a third-term agenda be pursued, Yeboah was emphatic.

He argued that such an act would “justify all forms of usurpation” and lead to national chaos.

He also claimed the country would fall into turmoil, suggesting the President might be “forced to flee the Flagstaff House”.

He predicted that such a crisis would lead to the rise of new political formations, coalitions, and collaborations, cautioning the ruling class to be extremely careful.

Ernesto Yeboah noted that President Mahama is currently in an “ideal place” for a leader, suggesting that even Dr Kwame Nkrumah would have achieved significantly more had he enjoyed the same relative peace and planning opportunities.

Speaking on As It Is Ghana on Rainbow Radio 92.4FM, UK, and 87.5 Ghana, he ended by noting that recent criticisms against the President have been less fierce than those during his first term.

He urged Mahama to cherish this current standing and avoid destroying his reputation through what he described as “political greed”.
