Fans have been flocking to a town once named the most boring place in France to catch a glimpse of a teenage dancing supermarket cashier.

Leonie, 18, who works part time at a Carrefour store in Laval, western France, found overnight fame after appearing in the supermarket’s TikTok videos.

The student is regularly featured dancing to French rap and R&B in the aisles and store rooms of the Laval Carrefour in her blue uniform alongside her colleagues.

Leonie’s dancing has captivated viewers, with social media users constantly taking to the videos’ comment sections to gush over the teenager’s looks and talent.

The clips have racked up millions of views, with Carrefour managers saying that the videos were posted this year to boost the store’s profile.

The unassuming town, located in the agricultural Mayenne department west of Paris, has since seen flocks of Gen Z fans rushing to Laval with the hopes of catching a glimpse of Leonie.

Locals are delighted, saying that Leonie’s TikTok fame has put Laval on the map, The Times reports.

Carrefour’s chief executive Alexandre Bompard even paid the store a visit this week and participated in a dance video with Leonie and fellow dancing cashiers.

While the supermarket says the overnight fame has boosted staff morale, it wonders whether it will be able to cope with all of the attention.

Store manager Angelique Durchon said she was surprised to see groups of fans turning up at the shop and chanting Leonie’s name, and said the store has had to hire security for the social media star.

‘These are young people going to the supermarket after school,’ she told radio station Ici Mayenne.

‘We were not ready for that. We have decided to take on a security guard to protect this young woman’, she said.

‘There are mothers who take their children to the supermarket just to see her, and others who buy just one item to go to her till.

‘Fake accounts have been created about her. I can’t understand it. It’s a bit unhealthy,’ Ms Durchon added.
