The Black Galaxies Head Coach, Kassim Mingle Ocansey, has commended his players following a narrow 1-0 defeat to South Africa in an international friendly. Despite the loss, he expressed confidence in the team’s potential and highlighted the value of the experience gained against a strong opponent.
“Because the league is ongoing, we didn’t have much time to prepare, but the work was intensive. This game was an eye-opener, and I believe we are building a strong CHAN team. The players performed very well against a tough opponent, and we have a bright future ahead,” Ocansey said.
The Black Galaxies suffered a 1–0 defeat to Bafana Bafana at the Dobsonville Stadium, with a 57th-minute strike from Mbula proving decisive as South Africa wrapped up final preparations for the upcoming AFCON.
During the match, Rudolf Junior Nana Mensah was introduced in the second half and came close to equalising, but his effort was brilliantly denied by the South African goalkeeper before hitting the inside of the goalpost.
Looking ahead, the Black Galaxies will turn their focus to the 2026 CHAN qualifiers, with the friendly against South Africa providing valuable international exposure and a benchmark for the team’s development.
