Former Wolves academy forward, Ethan McLeod has died following a tragic car crash on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, prompting an outpouring of grief across the English non-league games.

The 21-year-old Macclesfield attacker was travelling home after featuring in the Silkmen’s 2–1 victory over Bedford Town when the fatal accident occurred.

McLeod’s white Mercedes collided with a nearside metal barrier, and despite assistance from members of the public and emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have since launched an appeal for witnesses and are urging anyone with dashcam footage or relevant information to come forward.

Macclesfield confirmed the devastating news on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, paying tribute to a player they described as both immensely talented and universally admired within the squad.

In a statement, the club said McLeod “had his whole life ahead of him,” adding that his “infectious personality endeared him to everyone that he came into contact with.”

They also highlighted his professionalism and work ethic, noting that his attitude lifted teammates both on and off the pitch.

McLeod joined Macclesfield in July 2025, after progressing through Wolverhampton Wanderers’ academy, where he spent a decade developing his game.

He also gained senior experience with Alvechurch FC, Rushall Olympic and Stourbridge before continuing his career in the National League North.

The club described his passing as a profound shock and extended condolences to his family and friends, vowing to support those affected by the tragedy.
