Ghanaian musician King Promise has disclosed that English players of Ghanaian descent, Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi, had long expressed interest in playing for Ghana.

The musician, who is a close associate of both players, said he had been encouraging them to switch national allegiance to represent the Black Stars for some time.

According to King Promise, the Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace forwards were keen on playing for Ghana even before the national team secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“All my boys who play in England, I have asked them to play for Ghana. I have been trying. Eddie Nketiah loves Ghana and actually wants to play, and honestly, I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, but Callum would like to play as well. This is not just because of the World Cup; this was before.

“I can only have conversations on the level of friendship. When it goes beyond that and the intricacies come in, I am not part of it,” the Terminator hitmaker said in an interview with Kwadwo Sheldon Studios.

Reports had suggested that Nketiah and Hudson-Odoi only decided to play for the Black Stars after Ghana qualified for the Mundial.

However, this triggered backlash from some football fans and commentators, who argued that the players did not take part in the World Cup qualifiers and therefore should not be selected for the tournament.
