Some close associates and family members of the late Daddy Lumba are currently at the Accra High Court for a scheduled hearing in a dispute over the release of the musician’s body and control of his Memorial Foundation account.

According to videos captured by Joy News on social media, Papa Shee, a close friend of Daddy Lumba, and Ernestina Fosu (Akosua Brempongmaa), the late musician’s sister, were seen stepping out of their vehicles as they seek a court injunction to prevent the release of his remains without their authorisation.

    What is the injunction about?

Five individuals, who describe themselves as close maternal relatives, Obaapanyin Afia Adomah Pakoso, Robert Gyamfi (also known as Wofa Yaw Poku Asuafua), Georgina Gyamfi, Ernestina Fosuh and Nana Afia Kobi Pakoso, have filed a writ at the High Court in Accra.

In the writ filed on December 3, the plaintiffs asked the court to direct Transitions Funeral Home to retain custody of Daddy Lumba’s body unless they give express approval before any release.

They are also seeking an order to freeze and regulate access to the Daddy Lumba Memorial Foundation account at CAL Bank, which is intended to cover funeral and related expenses.

The plaintiffs want the first defendant, Kofi Owusu Abuakwa of Kumasi, and former members of a dissolved committee barred from accessing or operating the account.

They are also asking the court to compel the account signatory to refund and surrender any withdrawals made after the dissolution of the committee.

Additionally, they are seeking an order preventing CAL Bank from processing cheques signed by the first defendant or any representative acting on his behalf.

Daddy Lumba’s burial is currently set for Saturday, December 13, 2025. But the court’s decision will likely influence how the final rites proceed.
