The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that a rerun of the Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election will take place on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, following a directive from the Tamale High Court.

In a press release dated December 10, 2025, the Commission explained that the decision follows the court’s ruling on November 24, 2025, which ordered a fresh election within 30 days.

“The Electoral Commission will hold a rerun of the Parliamentary Election in the Kpandai Constituency on Tuesday, 30th December, 2025,” the statement said.

According to the EC, the upcoming poll will involve only the three candidates who contested the 2024 parliamentary elections in the constituency.

“The rerun of the Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election will be conducted for only the three candidates who contested the 2024 Parliamentary Election in the said Constituency,” the commission stated.

The rerun is expected to restore representation for the Kpandai constituency ahead of the next parliamentary session.

This follows the Tamale High Court’s annulment of the 2024 parliamentary election results for Kpandai in November, citing irregularities at several polling stations. The court ordered a rerun within 30 days, effectively nullifying the mandate of the previously declared winner, the New Patriotic Party’s Matthew Nyindam.

The decision sparked protests by the Minority Caucus in Parliament, which escalated on December 9 with a confrontation on the parliamentary floor between the Majority and Minority sides.
