South Africa’s national team, Bafana Bafana, will take on the Black Galaxies of Ghana in a high-profile friendly on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in Gauteng, before their trip to Morocco for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Coach Hugo Broos’ squad is gearing up for their AFCON campaign, where they are drawn in Group B alongside Angola, Egypt, and Zimbabwe.

The South Africans will kick off their campaign against Angola in Marrakesh on December 21, 2025, before facing Egypt in Agadir on December 26 and Zimbabwe back in Marrakesh on December 29, 2025.

The friendly gives both teams a chance to gauge their squads and test strategies against quality opposition.

For Bafana Bafana, who claimed bronze at the Nations Cup in Ivory Coast last year, the encounter serves as an important warm-up, allowing the team to fine-tune ahead of their first AFCON match against Angola.

For the Galaxies, it offers a competitive outing to maintain sharpness and pride after they missed out on the 2024 African Nations Championship.
