North Dayi – The Member of Parliament for North Dayi, Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh Quashie, has praised the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) for opening a modern branch in her constituency, calling it a major relief for her constituents.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Saturday, December 6, 2025, the MP described the facility as the fulfilment of a long-held promise. “Six or seven years ago, I was busing people to DVLA offices in Hohoe and Ho just to get their licenses and ensure their safety on our roads,” she recounted. “This project was born from the need to end that ordeal.”

Quashie highlighted her determined push to secure the branch, mobilising resources and lobbying the DVLA management. “I had to ensure its completion,” she stated. “I am grateful to the CEO of DVLA, who shared this vision from the start.”

Beyond licensing services, the MP outlined broader benefits. She emphasised that the branch would create direct and indirect employment for local youth, boosting the area’s economy.

She also revealed that the large-scale building is designed as a multipurpose hub. Plans are advanced to allocate sections of it for a university, following a Memorandum of Understanding with several institutions. “We hope to launch the North Dayi IPMC branch here next year,” Quashie disclosed. The goal, she said, is to provide local access to higher education and prevent the hassle of seeking schools elsewhere.

Additionally, the MP envisages the complex housing banks, insurance companies, and a modern eye clinic to serve the community.

In a notable pledge, Quashie promised to personally cover the licensing fees for any traditional leader in her constituency seeking DVLA services. “Any of my chiefs who decide to obtain a license will be fully covered by me,” she said, “regardless of gender.”

She also urged future staff of the facility to maintain high standards of service and care for the new asset.

In his remarks, DVLA Chief Executive, Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey, commended the MP’s relentless advocacy. He noted that while his office receives many requests, Quashie’s persistent pressure stood out. “I had to abandon all others and attend to hers,” Kotey said. “That shows how important her people are to her.”

Kotey advised the constituents to retain Quashie in office to continue her development agenda. “You have a good person. Keep that good person, and you will witness the transformation of North Dayi.”
