President John Mahama steps off the Qatar Airways Executive Jet provided by the State of Qatar President John Mahama steps off the Qatar Airways Executive Jet provided by the State of Qatar

Legal luminary Prof Stephen Kwaku Asare, popularly known as Kwaku Azar, has made a passionate appeal to the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to gift Ghana a plane.

Azar made this appeal in a post shared on Facebook on December 6, 2025, while reacting to the arrival of President John Dramani Mahama in Qatar to participate in the 2025 Doha Forum at the invitation of the Emir, in a plane provided by the Gulf country.

He suggested that the leader of Qatar should gift the same plane to Ghana as a symbol of the solidarity between the two countries.

“The President touched down in Doha aboard a Qatar Airways Executive Jet graciously provided by the State of Qatar. He is in Doha to participate in the 2025 Doha Forum at the invitation of the Emir, H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

“GOGO expresses sincere appreciation to the Emir for both the invitation and the generous provision of the executive jet. And, in the spirit of warm friendship and South–South cooperation, GOGO gently encourages the Emir to consider going one step further: donating the very same executive jet to the good people of Ghana — who would receive it as a symbol of lasting partnership between our two nations,” he wrote.

It can be recalled that Qatar gifted United States President Donald Trump a Boeing 747 in May 2025.

The plane, which cost about $400 million, was received by the Pentagon and would be used as the new Air Force One for President Trump.
