The immediate family of the late Ghanaian music icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has filed a fresh lawsuit to suspend the ongoing burial ceremony scheduled for December 13, 2025.

In the suit, which circulated on social media on December 5, 2025, the plaintiffs, Obaapanin Afia Adomah, Robert Gyamfi (Wofa Yaw Poku), Georgina Gyamfi, Ernestina Fosu, and Nana Afia Kobi, have accused the family head of mismanagement, attempting to hijack the funeral arrangements and every other rite since Daddy Lumba’s passing.

They further claim that the family head, Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu, has deliberately excluded them from key decisions regarding the funeral.

According to the plaintiffs, the family head, together with some individuals, conducted an autopsy on the late musician without their consent, a situation they believe requires thorough investigation.

In light of this, they have filed a formal complaint with the Homicide Division of the Ghana Police Service, requesting a full probe to determine the true cause of the musician’s death.

The plaintiffs have also cited CalBank in their suit, alleging that the funeral committee responsible for managing donations made to the ‘DL Foundation’ account during the musician’s one-week observation has been dissolved.

According to them, before new signatories were appointed, Abusuapayin Kofi Owusu allegedly withdrew GH¢11,000 from the account.

They added, that on November 11, 2025, Kofi Owusu again withdrew GH¢60,000 from the account without the family’s consent.

The plaintiffs are therefore asking the court to restrain CalBank from releasing any funds from the DL Foundation account to the family head.

Additionally, they have sought an interlocutory injunction against Transitions Funeral Home, preventing the facility from handing over the mortal remains of the late Daddy Lumba to the family head for burial.

“…stop Transitions Funeral Home from releasing the corpse to Owusu or anyone acting on his behalf until the suit is determined,” parts of the suits read.

Meanwhile, the family of the late musician is expected to appear before the court on December 11, 2025, for the hearing of the case.
