The New Patriotic Party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has urged voters in Bia East and West to abandon the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming December 7 elections. He argued that despite nearly 30 years of loyalty to the NDC, there has been little visible progress in the area to reflect this support.
Speaking at a rally in Kaase and Debiso in Bia East and West in the Western North Region on October 28, Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized the gap between the region’s development and the support it has consistently given the NDC.
“After 32 years of NDC, look around you. What do we have to show for it?” he questioned.
“This party will come to you, offering lies and false promises. I tell you, they are trying to deceive you,” he added, cautioning the crowd that the NDC has taken their support for granted and calling for a shift in allegiance.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh contrasted the results seen in Sefwi Akontombra, where a change in voting patterns to the NPP led to notable development, with what he described as the NDC’s long-standing neglect. He urged constituents to reject the notion that the NPP doesn’t care about the region and described any vote for the NDC as a “wasted” vote.
He elaborated, “we vote in elections for development, so if you vote for a political party that doesn’t have your progress at heart, then you have wasted the vote.”
The Regional Minister, Mr. Joojo Rockson Obeng, highlighted the government’s efforts to support cocoa farmers in the region, stressing the importance of initiatives aimed at supporting livelihoods in cocoa-growing communities. “NDC is not a party that should be followed by anyone,” he added.
