The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) has celebrated its 40th anniversary with a commitment to building an innovative, globally competitive, industry-driven, and environmentally responsible technical institution.

At a durbar to climax the celebration, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, said the university would continue expanding the frontiers of renewable energy education and entrepreneurial excellence.

The event was held under the theme: “40 Years of Quality Entrepreneurial-Oriented Technical and Vocational Education: Expanding the Frontiers of Renewable Energy.”

Prof. Boakye said CCTU aimed to become a national reference point for renewable energy training and research, particularly in solar technology, waste-to-energy systems, and energy-efficient solutions.

He called on all stakeholders to work with renewed energy and unity of purpose to position the university as the preferred technical institution in the country.

He added that management would continue to incubate student-led enterprises, support startups, and strengthen collaborations with business leaders and investors.

Plans were also underway to upgrade engineering workshops, build modern TVET training centres, and expand digital learning platforms.

“We will seek global partnerships to expose our students and staff to cutting-edge knowledge, innovation, and exchange opportunities,” he stated.

Prof. Boakye reaffirmed the university’s commitment to community outreach, skills training, and capacity-building programmes, particularly for youth and the informal sector.

He commended the 40th Anniversary Planning Committee, staff, students, alumni, and partners, and expressed gratitude to government, the Ministry of Education, and CTVET for supporting TVET delivery.

The Chancellor, Dr James Condua Orleans-Lindsay, described CCTU as a centre of excellence in entrepreneurship and technical and vocational education.

He highlighted ongoing efforts to construct a GH¢500 million hostel facility to ease accommodation challenges and appealed to alumni to support the project.
