The CEO of New Edubiase United, Alex Ackumey, has revealed that out of the $70,000 transfer fee owed by Hearts of Oak for midfielder Salim Adams, $24,000 is due to the Colts club where Adams was developed.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) imposed a transfer ban on Hearts of Oak for failing to pay the full transfer fee to New Edubiase by the May 31, 2025, deadline, as per Article 15(1)(c) of the GFA Disciplinary Code [1].

Speaking to Max FM on June 24, 2025, Ackumey explained the financial breakdown of the $70,000 debt owed by Hearts of Oak.

“We need to pay the Colts club, where we bought the player from. They are taking $24,000 out of the $70,000. We as a club must go and settle that debt,” he decried.

According to JoySports reports on June 24, 2025, he also noted that although Hearts made attempts to resolve the matter, those efforts were deemed unsatisfactory.

Due to the transfer ban, Hearts have been banned from registering new players both locally and internationally until the debt is fully paid.

Continued non-compliance could result in stiffer penalties, including points deduction or even relegation, as outlined in the GFA’s disciplinary regulations.
