The 6th Interplast Tennis Masters Championship concluded successfully at the Accra Lawn Tennis Courts (ALTC) on Saturday, with Johnson Acquah and Sisu Tomegah emerging as the 2025 champions.

The week-long tournament showcased the best tennis talent in Ghana, competing for GH¢15,000 in the male category and GH¢10,000 in the female category.

Acquah made history by defending his title, defeating Reginald Okantey 6-2, 7-5 in a thrilling final. En route, he overcame Samuel Nyamekye in the semifinals, 4-6, 6-4, before Nyamekye retired early in the third set. Okantey secured his final berth after Desmond Ayaaba retired 6-4, 4-2 in the other semifinal.

In the women’s division, Sisu Tomegah dethroned defending champion Tracy Ampah, winning 6-2, 6-4 in the final. Tomegah had advanced by defeating Annette Cruickshank 6-3, 3-0 after Cruickshank retired in the second set, while Ampah overcame Precious Nunana Okoh 6-3, 6-3 in a tough semifinal.

The Social Event saw Conner Baker (USA) defeat Grant Weber (South Africa) 9-3. Semifinalists in the men’s and women’s categories received GH¢10,000 and GH¢7,000, respectively, in cash rewards.

Mavis Asante, Public Relations Manager of Interplast Ghana, praised the players and organisers for their dedication and reaffirmed the sponsor’s commitment to supporting the tournament to further grow tennis in Ghana.
