European players born to Ghanaian parents have come in demand for the Black Stars in the last two decades due to Ghana’s inability to produce top players who can compete at the highest level.

With the Ghana Football Association reportedly still pursing Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah to switch allegiance from England to join the Black Stars, it is clear that the GFA will chase every top talent with Ghanaian roots in Europe.

Despite the need for these players, some have urged the GFA to adopt a different approach by going after the players early in their careers before they start making names for themselves.

GhanaWeb takes a look at four eligible teenagers at Chelsea who could become great additions to the Black Stars in the future.

    1. Samuel Rak-Sakyi

At just 20 years old, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is still in the early stages of his career.

On 7 November 2024, Rak-Sakyi made his senior debut for Chelsea in an 8–0 win over FC Noah in the UEFA Conference League. He was introduced in the game as a 79th minute substitute for Christopher Nkunku.

On December 12, 2024, Rak-Sakyi made his full debut for Chelsea starting against Astana in the UEFA Conference League.

While he has not rushed into a decision regarding his international future, the Black Stars will be a viable option for the youngster who has Ghanaian roots despite being born in the UK.

    2. Josh Acheampong

Joshua Kofi Acheampong was born on May 5,2006 has become a very important player in Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea team especially after the long term injury of English defender, Levi Colwill.

Acheampong made his first Premier League start against London rivals Crystal Palace, with the match ending 1–1 at Selhurst Park. He impressed the coach heavily who labelled him as the best player on the pitch.

The youngster has featured in all Chelsea’s preseason games after Bayern Leverkusen and AC Milan respectively.

    3. Genesis Kofi Koranteng Antwi

Born on May 11, 2007, Antwi was promoted to the senior side of the Chelsea football club in 2025.

On March 13, 2025, he debuted for them during a 1-0 home win over Copenhagen in the UEFA Conference League.

He recently made an appearance in Chelsea’s friendly match win against Bayern Leverkusen on August 8, 2025. Kofi assisted Joao Pedro to score in the game thus securing a comfortable 2-0 win for Chelsea.

    4. Tyrique Aaron Delali George

Arguably the most high-profile name on this list.

Born in London to Ghanaian parents, the 19-year-old has a promising future ahead of him as he is very fancied by Chelsea coach, Enzo Maresca.

On August 29, 2024, George made his senior debut for Chelsea as a substitute in a 2–1 defeat against Servette in the 2024–25 UEFA Conference League.

On 10 April 2025, George scored his first goal for Chelsea in the UEFA Conference League quarter-final after Legia Warsaw.

George also scored his first Premier League goal in a 2–1 away victory over local rivals Fulham on April 20, 2025.

He was on the bench for Chelsea’s 4-1 victory over Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League and received a medal for his contributions in the tournament.

Should he choose Ghana, he would be linking up with talented forwards like Mohammed Kudus and Kamaldeen Sulemana, making for an exciting attacking setup.

His experience at the highest level, coupled with his dribbling ability and creativity, could be a game-changer for the Black Stars.

As Ghana looks to rebuild and reassert itself among Africa’s elite, recruiting top-tier talent with Ghanaian roots could be crucial.
