    In a huge crackdown on immigration, the United States government’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has listed 3690 Nigerians for deportation.

    This comes following the President. Donald Trump’s intensified efforts to remove illegal immigrants from the country.

    The decision made public online in the early hours of today, has sparked widespread concerns among Nigerians at home and abroad.

    In a list that has been circulating on different social media platforms today, Nigeria was seen as one of the countries that had some of its citizens listed for deportation amongst many other countries.

    According to reports, a total of 1,445,549 non-citizens are to be deported with Mexico ranking the highest with 252,044.

    The U.S. government has also called on all Nigerians and other countries whose citizens face deportation to cooperate in facilitating the return of their Nationals.

    With claims that lack of cooperation from the foreign governments can delay or even hinder the deportation process.

    The document stated that;

    “The U.S. Government requests foreign governments take appropriate steps to confirm the citizenship of non-citizens suspected to be their nationals, which includes conducting interviews, issuing travel documents promptly, and accepting their physical return via scheduled commercial or charter flights.”

    As of the time of this report, the Federal Government of Nigeria has revealed that they are ready to welcome Nigerians from the US.
