A tragic incident at Mpasatia in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region has left residents in shock after a 36-year-old man, Emmanuel Somiah, lost his life during a confrontation at his girlfriend’s home.
The incident occurred on Saturday, August 23, 2025, when Emmanuel reportedly visited his girlfriend, identified as 28-year-old Cynthia Nyarko, to retrieve some of his belongings.
According to eyewitness accounts, upon arrival, Emmanuel unexpectedly met another man, known only as Jeff, in Cynthia’s room. What began as a heated exchange between the two men quickly escalated into a physical altercation.
In the chaos that followed, Emmanuel collapsed and was later discovered unresponsive. He was rushed to a nearby health facility but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police say Cynthia has been arrested to assist with investigations, while Jeff fled the scene and is currently on the run. Authorities have launched a manhunt to track him down.
The Atwima Mponua District Police Command confirmed that a full-scale investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances that led to Emmanuel’s death.
Residents of Mpasatia remain shaken by the incident, describing it as a disturbing reminder of the dangers of relationship disputes turning violent.
