    The government of Ghana has announced that the 30% reduction in the fee for ordinary passport applications, from GH₵500 to GH₵350, will go into effect on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

    The announcement was made by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Foreign Affairs, in a post on social media on November 9, 2025.

    “The new passport application fee of GH₵350 (a 30% reduction) comes into effect this Thursday, November 13, 2025. For God and Country,” he posted.

    This comes after the minister had earlier announced that the reduction would take effect sometime in November.

    Ghana to tighten passport acquisition to block criminal exploitation

    The Cabinet, in April 2025, had already approved the reduction as part of broader passport service reforms.

    The fee cut is expected to ease the cost burden of international travel for many Ghanaians and forms part of efforts to make passport acquisition more affordable and accessible to all citizens across the country.
