Member of Parliament (MP) for Mion Constituency in the Northern Region, Alhaji Misbaw Adam Mahama, in partnership with the Mion District Assembly last Saturday handed over solar mechanised boreholes to three communities in the district.

It is an initiative of the MP and estimated at the cost of GH¢412,000 with the funding from (Strengthening Investments in Gender-Responsive Climate Adaptation) SIGRA, a Canadian Non-Governmental Organisation.

The beneficiary communities are DC Kuraa, Sang and Jimlli.

At a short ceremony at DC Kuraa, the MP said this was to solve the acute water shortage in the respective communities, a pledge he made during the 2024 electioneering.

“My promise to you to get you a portable good drinking water has been fulfilled,” he stated.

He added that he would continue to lobby more organisations to come to the constituency to invest in the provision of potable water to help resolve the acute water crisis in the entire district.

The MP told them that he was rolling out more projects to benefit every single community in the area

Mr Mahama, however, appealed to the residents in the various beneficiary communities to ensure “proper management, usage and maintenance” of the projects for it to last longer.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Mion, Mr Azindow Hamzah Moabalyn, noted that the NDC government was a “listening government” hence the fulfillment of their promise in providing them with the water facility

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the provision of development projects to the deprived communities across the country.

“We were voted to solve problems of the people in every aspect of development in this country, and we are really doing exactly that,” he stated.

He mentioned that they would continue to foster partnership with organisations to bring more development to the people of the Mion District.

The DCE also appealed to members of the beneficiary communities to take care of the facilities.

The Assembly Man for Sambu Electoral Area, Mr Abubakari Alhassan, thanked the MP, the District Assembly and the partners for providing them with good drinking water, adding that it was a relief to the residents of the communities since they would no longer trek distance to fetch water.
