A devastating bus accident occurred on the Cape Coast-Accra Highway, resulting in the loss of three lives and leaving several others injured. The incident happened at the Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School Junction, where a Yutong bus with registration number GW 6231-21 overturned and landed on its side.

The bus was traveling from Takoradi to Accra with 53 passengers on board when the accident occurred. According to eyewitnesses, the bus was speeding before it lost control and overturned. The impact of the crash was severe, causing significant damage to the bus and trapping some passengers underneath.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), police, and ambulance services quickly responded to the scene to rescue those trapped and provide medical assistance. DOIII Abdul Wasiu Hudu, the Central Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, confirmed that all casualties were rescued and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Unfortunately, three passengers succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the hospital. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, but it is believed that speeding and reckless driving may have contributed to the crash.

The survivors of the accident were taken to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and the University of Cape Coast Hospital for medical attention. As of the latest reports, 23 people are still receiving treatment at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, while nine others have been treated and discharged.

The accident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many calling for improved road safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future. The GNFS and other authorities have promised to conduct a thorough investigation into the accident and take necessary steps to prevent similar incidents.

The families of the victims and those injured in the accident are receiving support and counseling from local authorities and community groups. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for all drivers to exercise caution and responsibility on the roads.

As the investigation into the accident continues, the people of Ghana are coming together to offer condolences and support to those affected by the tragedy. The incident is a sobering reminder of the risks and challenges associated with road travel, and the need for all stakeholders to work together to improve road safety and prevent such tragedies in the future.
