Legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has disclosed that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be his final major international tournament.
He explained that he has given his best to his country by helping them win laurels in international competitions, so stepping away will not be a major issue for him.
The former Real Madrid star also stated that it would be appropriate to hang up his boots and make way for others to showcase their potential.
“Definitely, yes. I’m in the game for the last 25 years. I did everything. I have many records in the different scenarios in the clubs and also in the national teams. I’m really proud, so let’s enjoy the moment, live the moment,” he told CNN.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner noted that his retirement could come soon and may not take many more years, considering his age.

“As you know, in football, when you reach a certain age, you count the months very quickly. So, the moment is good. As I told you before, I feel very good at this moment, I score goals, I still feel quick and sharp.
“I’m enjoying my game with the national team and Al Nassr. But of course, let’s be honest, when I say ‘soon,’ it’s probably one or two years that I’ll still be in the game,” he added.
