Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has insisted that nothing could have stopped them from beating the Central African Republic.

In matchday 9 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Ghana thrashed the Central African Republic 5-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

Goals from Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, Alexander Djiku, and Kamaldeen Sulemana saw the Black Stars extend their lead in Group I to 22 points.

The emphatic win leaves Ghana just one point away from qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

Speaking after the game, the Leicester City forward said the team’s spirit and determination made the difference on the night.

“With the determination and motivation we had today, whoever was on the pitch against us would’ve lost. From the first minute, we were at it,” Ayew said.

“When we scored the first goal, we were all happy, united, and playing as brothers, and this is what I want to see. If we keep this commitment and attitude, no one can stop us.”

The Black Stars now turn their attention to Sunday’s clash against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium, where they will aim to seal qualification for their fifth World Cup.
