Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician, Luigi Maclean, has expressed cautious optimism about the creative arts allocations in Ghana’s 2026 Budget, stating that artistes must begin to see concrete action rather than hear promises.
Speaking to GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dadzie at the 2026 Praise Achievement Awards on December 14, 2025, Maclean commented on the government’s pledge of some $20 million for the creative arts sector, saying that while the commitment sounds positive, many in the industry have yet to witness any tangible impact.
“We’ve had instances where we hear a lot of these things. They have mentioned that things will happen, but we don’t see them happen. So if it does happen, I think it’s something that we as a unit, a force, not just gospel, just the music fraternity in the whole of Ghana, should take advantage of. And I think it will push us further,” he said.
Maclean added that artistes are hopeful the promised support will materialise and have a meaningful effect on the industry.
He was also asked about his colleague and close friend, Joe Mettle, who recently launched an ultra-modern recording studio.
“It’s an amazing thing to be a part of. For some of us, we get the chance to be close to what is going on in his life, and it’s amazing. It’s something we are all learning from,” he said.

Maclean extended his encouragement to Joe Mettle, saying, “Joe, God bless you; keep doing what you are doing because it inspires a lot of us, the young and the old as well. So we pray for grace that you keep doing what you’re doing.”
The 4th edition of the Praise Achievement Awards was held on December 14, 2025, at Perez Chapel in Accra.
The sold-out event honoured outstanding gospel musicians and celebrated excellence within the industry.
The night featured uplifting performances from top gospel acts, including Luigi Maclean, Carl Clottey, Empress Gifty and Steve O & the Broken Chains.
Major winners included MOG Beatz as Songwriter of the Year, Empress Gifty as Female Artiste of the Year, and Kofi Owusu Peprah as Male Artiste of the Year.
The biggest winner was Team Eternity, which took home five awards, including Artiste of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Most Engaged Song on Social Media, and Group of the Year.
