Ghanaian artist Emmanuel Kwadwo Oware, popularly known as Ayisi, has expressed optimism about winning all three categories in which he’s nominated at the upcoming 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).

Ayisi received nominations for Songwriter of the Year, Best Male Vocal Performance, and Record of the Year at this year’s awards.

In an interview with TV3, Ayisi spoke confidently, stating that the recognition is long overdue.

“On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d say 10, no humility, no holding back. Just give it to me… I think it’s about time,” he declared.

In the Songwriter of the Year category, Ayisi faces stiff competition from industry heavyweights like Kofi Kinaata, Okyeame Kwame, Olive The Boy, and Team Eternity Ghana.

Acknowledging the challenge, he admitted, “Kofi Kinaata might give me a tough time because he’s an exceptional writer.”

For Record of the Year, his track “Can I Live” is up against hits such as Kofi Kinaata’s “Auntie Ama,” Small God’s “Fallen Angel” (feat. Black Sherif), and Kwabena Kwabena’s “Fakye Me” (feat. Obaapa Christy).

Reflecting on the hard work behind his nominated song, Ayisi declared, “Do I feel like I deserve it? Yes, yes, and yes. Just being nominated alone speaks volumes, but honestly, we put in the work, this should be ours.”
