The 2025 Genser PGA Championship has officially begun at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi, bringing together 75 professional golfers from clubs across Ghana and five other countries within the sub-region and beyond.

The four-day tournament, which started on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, marks the final and most prestigious event on the PGA Ghana calendar.

This year’s field features 45 regular professionals, 13 lady golfers, and 17 seniors, all competing for a significant prize purse and the bragging rights that come with winning the flagship championship.

The competition follows last year’s successful hosting at the Damang Golf Club in the Western Region.

Speaking at a brief opening ceremony, PGA President Hans De Beer highlighted the crucial role sponsorship plays in the development of the sport.

He expressed the Association’s gratitude to Genser Energy and other supporting firms for their continuous commitment to promoting professional golf. He also encouraged participants to adhere to the tournament’s rules and give their best throughout the competition.

PGA Vice President, Alhaji Ahmed Padori extended his appreciation to the Royal Golf Club’s leadership and to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for their ongoing support and for granting permission to host the championship at the prestigious venue.

He urged golfers to maintain discipline and remain dedicated to improving their performance.

Tournament Director, Eric Henaku and several participating golfers, including Emos Koblah, Jessica Tei, and Francis Torgah, also shared their optimism in interviews, expressing confidence in making a strong impact during the Kumasi showdown.

The championship continues through to the weekend, with players vying for top honors in what promises to be an exciting climax to the 2025 professional golf season.
