Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana

Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, has applauded the Finance Minister for presenting what he describes as an “excellent budget” that prioritizes fiscal discipline and economic recovery.

Speaking in an interview, Agbana stated, “I think it’s right for me to use this platform to congratulate the Finance minister for delivering a budget that gives hope, addresses fundamental economic issues, and emphasizes fiscal discipline.”

He criticized the previous administration, asserting that their budgets focused more on catchy names than on real economic solutions.

“For the past eight years, we saw how the government under Nana Akufo-Addo and his appointees never prioritized the needs of Ghanaians in their budgets.

“They were good at coming up with nice, beautiful names—ASA Budget, Whatever Budget, Blah Blah Blah Budget—but all of that led us into a deep hole that we are trying to climb out of,” he said on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana.

Agbana further highlighted how mismanagement under the former administration created economic hardships, leading even members of the then-majority to demand the removal of their Finance Minister.

“Even they couldn’t take it any longer—98 NPP MPs signed a petition asking for the Finance minister to be removed.”

He dismissed criticisms from the opposition, stating that they failed to implement their supposed economic solutions during their tenure.

“It is surprising that all of a sudden, the NPP claims to have the men to run the economy. Where were these ideas in their eight years?”

According to Agbana, the current administration has started on a positive note and is committed to reversing the economic downturn. “We are on the right trajectory, and we will stay focused on delivering the real solutions Ghanaians need,” he affirmed.
