Following claims that the government is supporting a private company to invest $200 million in building a Hollywood-style film studio in the country, Rex Omar, Presidential Staffer for the Black Star Experience, has provided an update on the project.
In a discussion on GhanaWeb‘s X Space on September 5, 2025, Rex Omar noted that the project is still underway when quizzed by co-host Joseph Henry Mensah.
According to Omar, the project is a private investment, and as such, his office cannot provide regular public updates. However, he assured Ghanaians that the project remains active and is moving forward.
“It is ongoing… To build such a studio, you need a huge amount of land, which has already been provided… I will not come every week to tell you where we have reached. It is a private investment. All I can say is that it is in the pipeline,” he said.

Rex Omar further noted that his office will update Ghanaians once the $200 million Hollywood project is ready for use.
“Until you hear that the studio is ready and they are going to commission it, it is a private business. When it is ready, everybody will know. There are so many other projects that are happening that I don’t want to talk about. We want to work to show instead of talking,” he said.
Rex Omar had previously spoken about the project on May 1, 2025, in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb during the launch of the Black Star Experience.
At the time, he revealed that the secretariat had secured a $200 million allocation for the construction of the state-of-the-art film studio.
He explained that most of the projects would be driven by private capital, adding that the secretaries have been able to secure over 200 acres of land for the project.
