The opposition National Democratic Congress has announced that it has so far won 185 parliamentary seats in the December 7, 2024, parliamentary election.
The party has made history by winning some seats considered ‘safe’ for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the first time in competitive elections since 1996.
The following are the seats won by the NDC for the first time:
Greater Accra
Ayawso Central, Okaikoi South, Tema West, and Dome-Kwabenya
Central Region
Awutu Senya East( Kasoa area) and Assin Central
Western Region
Secondi, Kwesimintim, Essikado-Ketan, and Tarkwa Nsuaem
Bono Region
Sunyani East, Domaa East, Dormaa West. and Asutifi North
Eastern Region
Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Akuapem South, Lower West Akim
Ashanti Region
Adansi Asokwa, Ahafo Ano South East, and Obuasi East.
