Ace sports journalist Patrick Osei Agyemang, alias Countryman Songo, has told the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams to reduce the Black Stars budget for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Kofi Adams on Thursday, February 26, told the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports that he had received a proposed budget of over $13 million for Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign from the Ghana Football Association.

The minister emphasised that the budget remains at the proposal stage, with discussions yet to be held with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for scrutiny before final approval.

Reacting to this, Countryman Songo who was angry and disappointed after hearing the figures in the proposal urged the minister to reduce the budget “aggressively” because the country cannot afford to spend such an amount on the Black Stars.

“The money is too much. Everyday you are using the Black Stars to cheat Ghanaians. Change your behavior because the cheating is too much. Reduce the budget, in hard times like this you can’t do that.”

“Cost of living is high, business are struggling and people can’t get jobs to do so in terms like this you have to justify every dollar sent to the Black Stars. The money is too much, the Kalabule is too much is this country. Fire burn you people, reduce the budget now,” Countryman Songo said on his ‘Fire 4 Fire’ Show.
