Having umbrellas and other items can help you navigate through the rainy season Having umbrellas and other items can help you navigate through the rainy season

Being prepared for the rainy season when going out or to work is crucial for safety and well-being.

Heavy rains can lead to slippery roads, reduced visibility, and potential for electrical hazards. It also increases the risk of waterborne diseases, and mosquito-borne illnesses like malaria.

Here are 10 essential items you need when going out in the rainy season

    1. Umbrella or raincoat: Protects you from getting wet in the rain, reducing the risk of catching a cold or flu. A waterproof layer like a poncho can also help prevent clothing damage.

    2. Waterproof phone case: Safeguards your phone from water damage, ensuring you stay connected and can take photos even in wet conditions.

    3. Portable powerbank: Keeps your devices charged when you’re out and about, especially if you’re stuck in the rain for an extended period.

    4. First-aid kit: Provides basic medical supplies to treat minor injuries, such as cuts or scrapes, that may occur while navigating wet or slippery surfaces.

    5. Flashlight or torch: Helps you see in low-light conditions, reducing the risk of accidents or injuries when walking in the rain.

    6. Tissue papers or wet wipes: Useful for cleaning your hands, face, or surfaces when water is scarce.

    7. Hand sanitizer: Maintains hand hygiene when soap and water are not available, reducing the risk of illness.

    8. Extra set of clothes (if possible), waterproof footwear and bag: Extra set of clothes allows you to change into dry clothes if you get wet, helping to prevent discomfort and illness. A waterproof footwear to keep feet dry, comfortable, and healthy is also a go-to as it reduces the risk of fungal and bacteria infection. Waterproof bags protect belonging from the rain.

    9. Water bottle: Keeps you hydrated, especially if you’re stuck in the rain for an extended period.

    10. Small towel or microfiber cloth: Helps you dry off or clean surfaces, reducing the risk of slipping or falling.

Having these items in your bag can help you navigate through the rainy season with more confidence and preparedness.

    Stay comfortable, dry and safe.
