The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested suspects following reports of armed robbery and abduction in the Kendeu community of Wa West District on Sunday around 2:00 p.m. Other perpetrators reportedly fled the scene.

Two men, identified as John Gaan and Dari Moses Dondomor, were abducted during the attacks. Their whereabouts, along with some of their belongings, remain unknown.

In a statement signed by the Regional Police Commander for the Upper West, DCOP Francis K. Yiribaare, and shared with The Ghanaian Times, the police said the suspects attacked road users and market women, stealing money and other valuables.

The statement added that officers recovered five locally manufactured guns, 25 live AA cartridges, two spent cartridges, two knives, and several spiritual talismans.

The Police commended the professionalism and swift response of their officers, as well as the invaluable collaboration with sister security agencies and local community leaders.

Integrated patrols are ongoing to deter further attacks, while key leadership engagement with community stakeholders continues to support the search for the missing victims and de-escalate tensions.

The command urged residents to remain cooperative and provide credible information to assist ongoing investigations.
