The “Mallorca Fight Night II” on Thursday evening at the Trui Teatre was a resounding sporting success for the Berlin-based boxing stable AGON Sports, promoted by Ingo Volckmann. Paul Wall impressively defended his IBF European super welterweight title with an early victory, while Hamsat Shadalov secured the vacant IBF Intercontinental super featherweight title after twelve demanding rounds. Cuban heavyweight Carlos “Hulk” Castillo also delivered a spectacular knockout performance.

In the second title fight of the evening, Paul Wall (13-0, 9 KOs) once again demonstrated his class. The undefeated Berliner dominated his Finnish challenger, Tomi Silvennoinen, for much of the bout and defended his IBF European title by technical knockout. Wall employed a tactically astute approach: initially, he primarily targeted his opponent’s head before gradually opening up his defense and shifting his attacks to the body. In the sixth round, he sent Silvennoinen to the canvas for the first time with a devastating liver shot. Two more knockdowns with heavy body shots followed in the seventh round. The Finn then withdrew for the eighth round, thus securing Wall’s first title defense. After his convincing performance, the Berliner can justifiably hope for a further climb in the IBF world rankings.

His longtime friend and training partner, Hamsat Shadalov (14-0, 3 KOs), faced considerably more resistance. The super featherweight boxer faced Portugal’s Pedro Manuel Gomes in the main event of the evening for the vacant IBF Intercontinental title and, for the first time in his professional career, had to go the full twelve rounds. Shadalov, who had prepared for his first bout against another southpaw, initially impressed with his characteristically strong defense, quick footwork, and precise punches. Gomes rarely landed clean shots, but steadily increased the pressure as the fight progressed, demanding a lot from the Berlin native. Despite the increasing intensity, Shadalov maintained his composure and won by unanimous decision after twelve hard-fought rounds with scores of 116-112, 118-110, and 117-111. With this victory in the IBF Intercontinental title, the undefeated AGON talent took a significant step towards the top of the world rankings.

Another highlight came from Cuban heavyweight Carlos “Hulk” Castillo Rodriguez, who spectacularly knocked out his Uruguayan opponent, Mauricio Nicolas Barragan, in the fifth round. The southpaw displayed discipline and tactical acumen. Castillo controlled the fight from the outset, allowing his opponent few clean shots and initially avoiding unnecessary risks despite his superiority. Round after round, he dictated the pace before delivering the decisive knockout in the fifth. Castillo thus underlined his ambitions to prove himself for even bigger challenges after winning the WBA Fedelatin title.

Former IBF middleweight world champion Vincenzo Gualtieri also celebrated a successful comeback. The Wuppertal native left no doubt against Aliaksandr Dzemka, ending the fight in the first round. A precise liver shot sent Dzemka to the canvas. Although he got back to his feet during the count, he was subsequently stopped. For Gualtieri, it was a successful step back into the ring.

The other boxers also delivered convincing performances. Zaurbek Satymbaev defeated Elvis Bonnin by technical knockout in the first round. After taking several hard blows to the head, Bonnin went down, got back up, but was stopped by the referee. AGON’s middleweight Malek Semmo also made short work of his opponent, defeating Andrejs Volincuks early in the first round.

The evening was particularly successful for siblings Elvis and Stephanie Sangou, who live in Mallorca. Elvis Sangou gave his opponent, Manuel de Jesus Julio Perez, no chance, securing a knockout victory in the second round. His sister, Stephanie, had to work much harder against Sherie Barnes, but ultimately also prevailed early. In the sixth round, she cornered her opponent against the ropes and unleashed a barrage of punches. When Barnes offered no further resistance, the referee intervened and stopped the fight.
