The Ukrainian president claims Moscow is plotting to topple him before the end of the year, but the battle-hardened leader has vowed to fight on.
He said the first assassination plot caused him to panic, but the foiled attempts, of which there have allegedly been many, that followed were not as frightening.
‘The first one is very interesting, when it is the first time, and after that it is just like Covid,’ he told the newspaper. ‘First of all people don’t know what to do with it and it’s looking very scary.
‘And then after that, it is just intelligence just sharing with you detail that one more group came to Ukraine to [attempt] this.’
Zelensky has also accused Russia of ‘lighting fires’ across the globe and leading the world to the brink of World War Three.
