The truck driver was treated for minor injuries after the crash at the intersection of Pitt and Hay Street, in Haymarket in Sydney‘s CBD, just before 7am on Friday.

Emergency services, including police and multiple fire crews rushed to the scene.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman told Daily Mail Australia the male truck driver sustained minor injuries.

Northbound traffic remains heavy on Pitt Street.

A NSW Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail officers are investigating the incident.

Transport for NSW Acting Coordinator General Craig Moran told 2GB there will be significant delays on the light rail network.

‘The light rail vehicle has become derailed so it will probably take a number of hours before we will be able to get that light rail service back in operation,’ Mr Moran said.

Commuters have been urged to catch buses instead with police investigating the circumstances surrounding the cause of the crash (pictured)
