Prominent progressives are already celebrating the news of Tucker Carlson’s sudden Fox News ousting – with the ladies of The View leading the charge with an on-air Mexican wave.
The response, seen on Monday morning, came almost immediately after Fox issued a statement announcing they had ‘parted ways’ with the talking head, spurring a litany of left-leaning figures such as Jon Stewart to take to Twitter to revel in the decision.
Apart from the former Daily Show host – who famously clashed with Carlson on a 2004 episode of CNN’s Crossfire over his style of interviewing – others saluted the host’s nixing included George Takei, Twitch streamer Hasanabi, and Keith Olbermann.
Some offered choice words for the longtime Fox fixture, while others, like Stewart, were more subtle when rubbing salt in the 53-year-old Trump supporter’s wound – with the Democrat only offering a pointed emoji in response.
The exhibition seen from the women of the View, meanwhile, was much more marked – with longtime host Whoopi Goldberg announcing the news before joining onlookers in an impassioned rendition of ‘Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye’.

Stewart, who retired from his own show several years ago famously clashed with Carlson on a 2004 episode of CNN’s Crossfire, during which the outspoken Democrat slammed Carlson for his stilted style of interviewing. Ana Navarro, who led the chant, is a Republican, but seemed equally thrilled when Goldberg, 67, provided the audience with a real-time update during the live taping to note Carlson’s apparent firing after nearly a decade with the news station.
‘Word has just come down that Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,’ Goldberg announced before being met with a rash of applause from those in attendance at the ABC Broadcast Center in Manhattan.
The actress, the most senior on the panel with Joy Behar out, went on to perform the gesture popularized during the 1986 Mexico World Cup in celebration, with her fellow panelists all joining in.
As the woman sat back down, Navarro – who joined the program this past August – seemingly sought to extend the festivities by singing the 1969 hit to ring in Carlson’s departure. The audience, again, was eager to take part.
‘Can I ask the audience if they’ll help me do something?’ the increasingly animated 51-year-old asked aloud before breaking into song. ‘Come on folks! Na na na na. Na na na na. Hey, hey, hey. Goodbye! Sayonara.’
As the impromptu chorus died down, panelist Sunny Hostin – who in the past has been criticized for pushing her progressive opinions on her more moderate colleagues like Goldberg and ex-Trump aide Alyssa Farrah Griffin – continued to kick Carlson while he was down.
‘I don’t think anyone likes to celebrate the demise of someone’s career, but he is responsible for the degradation that we see somewhat of our democracy in this country,’ the 54-year-old lawyer said.
She added joyfully: ‘And I just think, as a faithful person: Look at God. Look at God!’
The remark prompted a response from Griffin, who for a few months in 2020 served as a communications director and assistant for then President Donald Trump.
Citing how Carlson’s broadcasts often contain pro-Russian talking points, the 33-year-old talker said: ‘Russian propaganda is the hardest hit [by Carlson’s ouster]. He’s been the biggest purveyor of Russian propaganda. So it’s a good day for Ukraine.’
Hostin would then add: ‘Karma doesn’t lose anyone’s address,’ with all of the women, including other host Sara Haines, 45, nodding in apparent agreement.

Meanwhile, within left-leaning corners of the internet, the response to Carlson’s axing was largely the same – with celebrities and politicians alike taking the time to commemorate the occasion.
Stewart – an outspoken critic of Carlson since he rose to prominence in the early 2000s – shared an emoji of a pair of eyes as if to indicate he was enjoying watching the Fox host’s downfall unfold.
Former CNN correspondent Olbermann – also a well-known Fox and Carlson detractor – penned a post that seemingly likened Carlson to a Nazi, using an off-color pun.
‘I did nazi this coming,’ wrote Olbermann moments after Fox issued a somewhat vague statement summing up Carlson’s dismissal. ‘Tucker Carlson out at Fox.’
Star Trek alum Takei, who is also an outspoken liberal activist, added: ‘Don’t let the door hit you on your way out, you horrid, soulless man.’
Hasan Piker, a popular internet personality better known by his online pseudonym Hasanabi, also shared some choice words for Carlson – whom sources confirmed to DailyMail.com Monday will no longer grace television screens as a Fox personality.
‘Tucker Carlson is out at Fox News,’ the 31-year-old, self-touted socialist wrote to his more than 1million followers. ‘Doubt Fox will be able to find a wasp nationalist propaganda machine as good as tucker. F**k him.’
Several progressive politicians were also quick to praise Fox for parting ways with the popular host, including Biden staffer Victor Shi, who at 23, is the youngest delegate to work under the current president.
‘Fox just announced that Tucker Carlson is LEAVING the network & will no longer host his show,’ wrote Shi in a now-viral post to Twitter. ‘The person who lied & spread the most dangerous conspiracy theories to his audience is now gone.
‘We should all be very glad. Hallelujah.’
Congressmen such as Philadelphia’s Brendan Boyle also praised Fox’s decision to do away with the polarizing personality, who pointed to Carlson’s checkered past with other media conglomerates such CNN and MSNBC.
‘Congrats to Tucker Carlson upon becoming the first tv host in history to be fired by CNN, MSNBC, and FOX News wrote Boyle, who jokingly called the distinction ‘the cable tv Triple Crown.’
Others, including actor DL Hughley, boasted about the news. Hughley said, referencing Fox’s recent lawsuit settlement over a defamation case filed by the election tech company Dominion Voting Systems over claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential race: ‘That’s what happens when you cost the company almost a billion dollars – cuz you’re a liar!’
Fox News released a statement shortly after a settlement was announced: writing they ‘acknowledge the Court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false.
The network added: ‘This settlement reflects FOX’s continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards.
‘We are hopeful that our decision to resolve this dispute with Dominion amicably, instead of the acrimony of a divisive trial, allows the country to move forward from these issues.’
Carlson, meanwhile, has yet to publicly comment on his ouster. Effective immediately, he is currently out of a job.
