Nigerian singer, Simi has taken to social media to ask her husband, Adekunle Gold some hard questions about who they are as a couple after the High Court declared Ikoyi Marriage Registry as invalid.
The Federal Government of Nigeria and the Local Government Areas disagreed about who should have the authority to issue marriage certificates, and a High Court ruled in favor of the LGAs, rendering all weddings recognized by the FG null and void.
The court, headed by Justice D. E. Osiagor, ruled that the provisions of the 1999 Constitution only enable local government marriage registry to do so (as amended). The federal government conducting marriages is unlawful, according to Osiagor.
After this information was revealed to the public, several celebrities have taken to social media to react to the new ruling.
Simi was taken by surprise at the news and she asked her husband on the legality of the things they have been doing since they got together as a couple.
Simi wrote:
“Ngbor Akekunle Gold we have been fornicating?”
Her husband responded to the question and wrote, “My own na make them do refund.”
In other news, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has intimated that assuming President Muhammadu Buhari would do something other than what he has already done is like pounding a dead goat.
He made his disclosure at a Global Peace Foundation and Vision Africa retreat on inclusive security in Abuja.
Obasanjo said: “The truth is this: President Buhari has done his best. That is what he can do. If we are expecting anything more than what he has done or what he is doing, that means we’re whipping a dead horse and there is no need.
