Seek alternative sources of income – Teephlow tells ‘struggling musicians’

Ghanaian rapper, Teephlow, has urged fellow musicians to diversify income streams for better livelihoods, advising against heeding public criticism that could hinder artistic growth.

In a live social media video, Teephlow emphasised the importance of not limiting oneself based on societal expectations.

He highlighted the need for artistes to explore opportunities beyond music, citing his background in quantity surveying as an example.

“They’ll tell you to stay in your comfort zone, but they won’t invest in your career,” he remarked, questioning why someone with an academic degree should confine themselves to music alone.

Teephlow recalled how his education provided a safety net, enabling him to pursue music without financial worry.

“Don’t let anyone restrict you,” he advised, stressing the importance of securing financial stability to support one’s passion. “If your passion isn’t enough, ensure your bills are covered first. Once that’s sorted, focus on your art without stress.”
