A secondary school in Coventry has been evacuated after a ‘threat’ was received this morning.

Pupils were urgently sent home from Meadow Park School, just before lessons were about to start at 8.30am.

Children in Year 11 were rushed to another nearby school so they could continue with lessons ahead of summer GCSE exams.

It follows a series of evacuations at schools in recent months, including one in nearby Warwick less than three weeks ago. In November, a London school was forced to evacuate pupils twice in four days following a hoax bomb threat.

After the latest incident in Coventry, a spokesman for Meadow Park School told The Sun: ‘Following a threat received before the start of the school day, we informed police and contacted parents to say we needed to close the school.

‘The safety of our students is our number one priority and our established contingency plan was activated to minimise disruption to pupils and the wider school community.’

The school has said that is plans to reopen as normal tomorrow morning.

‘Due to an evacuation, school is closed for all students except for Year 11,’ the school said this morning.

‘Alternative arrangements are being made for their exams. Please send Year 11 students to school as normal, where they will receive further instructions.

‘School was closed today as a precautionary measure. School will reopen as normal to all students tomorrow morning (June 11).

‘Thank you for your support with this.’

MailOnline has contacted West Midlands Police for comment.
