  • Peter Malinauskas’ wife Annabel due to have baby in November

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas has announced that his corporate lawyer wife Annabel is expecting their fourth child in November.

Mr Malinauskas took to Twitter on Monday to announce the imminent arrival of the latest addition to their already busy household.

‘I’m very happy to share the news that Annabel and I are expecting a baby in November,’ he wrote.

‘Sophie, Jack and Eliza are as excited as we are to find out whether they’ll have a little brother or sister. Annabel is doing really well, in fact I don’t know how she does it!’

The Malinauskas kids are fairly evenly spread out, with Sophie being eight-years-old, Jack, five, and Eliza aged three.

The Premier said Eliza is particularly excited that she will at last have a younger sibling.

‘She’s the one that’s talking about it the most. The other two are excited about it too, but Eliza’s very inquisitive,’ Mr Malinauskas said.

‘She’s become a real talker in the last few months, so she’s sort of asking ‘baby, mummy, tummy, baby come out?”

There will be no gender reveal party, though, as the couple is not interested in finding out before the baby is born.

‘We’ve done the surprise option the last three times so we’re going to try and be consistent, so we’ve got no idea,’ he told the Advertiser.

Mr Malinauskas said they just hope the baby is healthy baby and that his wife has a healthy pregnancy.

He said going from three children to four won’t be that much of a change as their home is ‘pretty hectic and chaotic’ anyway.

Deputy Premier Susan Close will be Acting Premier when Mr Malinauskas takes paternity leave when the baby is born.

Dr Close was the first of the Premier’s colleagues to learn the news of the pregnancy, with the remainder of the state government Cabinet being told last week.
