Rot-Weiss Essen has parted ways with German-born Ghanaian defender Aaron Manu after just a year.

The club and Manu agreed to terminate the contract, as confirmed by his agent, Amir Duheric, though an official announcement is still pending.

Aaron Manu, who joined Essen from Erfurt last year, struggled to secure a place in the team, making only three appearances due to injuries.

During the summer break, the 24-year-old was informed that he could seek opportunities elsewhere. Manu is reportedly in negotiations with several regional league teams.

Manu is the 13th player to leave Rot-Weiss Essen this season. Reflecting on his time at the club, Manu said, “I have fond memories of the club, the fans, and the city, and I’m grateful to my teammates for the great teamwork. While I wish I could have contributed more on the field, I’m excited about the challenges ahead.”
