He was suspended after an investigation was launched in October 2021.

Sussex Police said the alleged offences occurred in Kent when the officer was off duty.

The force said the case had been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct, which had said a local investigation by the professional standards department should be carried out.

The case has been committed to Lewes Crown Court for a hearing on May 19 and the officer was released on bail.
