Police investigating a ‘nasty’ late-night attack on the girlfriend of footballer Louie Sibley have arrested two people.

Keeley Carter, 20, was allegedly punched, smashed into a wall, dragged to the ground and knocked unconscious during the assault on Upper Parliament street in Nottingham at around 2am on Sunday.

Louie, 20, who plays for Derby County, posted pictures of Keeley and her injuries along with CCTV pictures of her alleged attacker on social media.

He wrote: ‘My girlfriend was attacked several times by a man and a woman.

‘She ended up in hospital and had to have stitches due to the man who punched her and knocked her out, leaving her unconscious.

‘This coward attacked such an innocent girl. He even dragged her to the ground prior to the hit and slammed her up the wall.

‘After doing that, when she wasn’t looking, he then smacked her, leaving her unconscious.

Louie, 20, who plays for Derby County, posted pictures of Keeley and her injuries (above) along with CCTV pictures of her alleged attacker on social media

‘The woman he was with was continuously attempting to assault her, even attacking her when the man dragged her to the floor.’

He said the attack was unprovoked and the pair ran off afterwards.

Louie said: ‘Both of them need to be found! How can a grown man attack a girl like this and get away with it?

‘Please share this and if anyone has any information it would be much appreciated.’

Nottinghamshire Police arrested a 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.

Chief Inspector Amy English said: ‘Violence will not be tolerated in our city or county and that is why officers have been working hard to investigate the exact circumstances of what happened and to find those responsible.

‘I am pleased to say we have now arrested two individuals in connection with the investigation and officers are today questioning them about the incident.

‘While I understand all reports of street violence cause concern, I would like to reassure people that we work with partners all year round so that people can enjoy a safe night out in Nottingham.

‘This is demonstrated by the city recently retaining its Purple Flag status for a twelfth successive year, which is awarded to places that offer an entertaining, diverse, safe and enjoyable night out.

‘A tiny minority of people occasionally seek to spoil the enjoyment for others and we will not hesitate to take robust action against them.

‘We will continue to deploy high-visibility patrols during the night-time economy to engage with the public and help keep them safe.’

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said: ‘Police investigating an assault on a woman have made two arrests.

‘The 20-year-old victim required hospital treatment following the incident in Upper Parliament Street, in Nottingham city centre, at 2.08am on Sunday.

‘The incident is being linked to an assault on a second woman, also in the Upper Parliament Street area, moments after the first assault.

‘Following extensive enquiries, a 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.’

The force previously released images of four people it wanted to trace in connection with the incident.

On a social media post, Louie said: 'Both of them need to be found! How can a grown man attack a girl like this and get away with it?'

Ch Insp English said at that time: ‘This was a nasty assault which left the victim needing hospital treatment.

‘We have been trawling through all of the CCTV footage available from the night as part of our investigations, to help establish what happened.

‘After reviewing the footage in detail, we have identified four people who we believe may have information that could help our enquiry and I urge them to come forward.

‘Anyone who witnessed the incident, or recognises anyone in the images, is also asked to call us on 101, quoting incident 86 of 12 June 2022, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.’

England U20 international Louie made 28 appearances for The Rams last season under boss Wayne Rooney.
