Penshurst sexual assault: Stranger charged with raping 14-year-old girl as cops set up crime scene at park

A man has been charged with child sex offences after a teenage girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in a Sydney park.
Detectives launched a manhunt after a 14-year-old teenage girl reported that she was allegedly sexually assaulted by an unknown man in Penshurst in the city’s south on Monday.
Police attended the park a short time later and established a crime scene.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives attended a nearby home on Monday afternoon and arrested a 46-year-old man.

NSW Police on Tuesday released a photo of the man donning tradie gear and handcuffs being escorted away by officers.
He was taken to Kogarah Police Station and charged with five offences, including producing child abuse material, aggravated sexual intercourse child aged under-16 and using a child aged over-14 to make child abuse material.
He spent the night in custody and appeared in Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday, where he was formally refused bail.
He will remain behind bars until his next court appearance in Downing Centre Local Court on October 26.
