Parents describe ‘dead dark stare’ stranger had who tried to snatch their daughter from street

The parents of a six-year-old Ohio girl, who was nearly snatched outside of her home when throwing out the trash, described their daughter’s abductor as having a ‘dead dark stare.’

Ken’adi Nash was only steps away from the front door of her home in Hamilton, Ohio when a random stranger, identified as Deric McPherson, 33, walked up to the youngster grabbed her hand, and attempted to pull her down the street.

The home’s ring camera caught the brazen attack that happened in broad daylight on Wednesday.

The brave little girl screamed loudly as she fought to get away and ran into her house.

Once inside, Ken’adi told her parents -Ricky Nash and Mandie Miller-Nash- the terrifying ordeal of what had happened and said that ‘some man tried to kidnap me’ and that he had touched her ‘private parts.’

Nash’s father, who is the father of three other daughters, got into his car and chased the perp while calling 911. ‘I chased after him like he still had my kid. [I] definitely didn’t want him to go snatch another kid,’ Ricky said.

He said that McPherson tried to ‘dip in and out of alleys and through people’s yards to get away from me,’ WLWT reported.

Police later located McPherson on Erie Boulevard in a shop called, Paul’s Auto Lot. He was found hiding inside an old-Dodge Caravan.

‘I told him I hope he is ashamed of yourself and hope he gets what he deserves,’ Ricky said.

McPherson was charged with abduction and gross sexual imposition. He is being held at the Butler County Jail

Sitting in-between her parents, little Ken’adi appeared on Fox & Friends shook and her head incessantly when the co-host Todd Piro asked if she was ‘okay.’

Mandie told the host how Ken’adi knows about ‘stranger danger’ because they have spoken about it in the past. She encouraged other parents to do the same.

‘This can happen in an instant, in a blink of an eye,’ Mandie said, who mentioned that in the four years they have been living in their neighborhood this is the first time something like this had ever happened.

‘I just want them [parents] to have talks with their kids and let them know that this is real, and it can happen, and to use the necessary precautions… if something would ever happen like this.’

The family is now trying to move away from Hamilton, according to Mandie’s Facebook page, because Ken’Adi ‘desperately wants to move out of this house/neighborhood [as soon as possible].’

Child Advocate for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Callahan Walsh, told GMA that Ken’Adi has done everything correctly.

‘She was kicking, screaming, pulling away. It’s exactly what we teach kids what to do when a would-be abductor tries to grab them,’ Walsh said.

Around 83 percent of children who have faced with a potential abduction got away by doing something ‘proactive,’ like kicking.

‘She’s the reason why she’s home safe tonight,’ he told GMA.

Walsh also recommends parents talk to their children about what to do in these situations sooner rather than later.

‘Start with things like walking through your neighborhood, pointing out which houses your child could go to in an emergency, what their neighbors’ names are, what their parents’ full names are, what phone number and what home address they have,’ Walsh said.

‘These are things that you can teach your young kids, the basics of child safety.’
