Number’s up for Lotto winners’ marriage as childhood sweethearts who wed after £45million jackpot split after 12 years

A pair of childhood sweethearts who wed just months after winning a £45million jackpot have been the latest victims of the lottery curse.

Matt Topham and Cassey Carrington were both just 22 when they struck lucky on the EuroMillions in 2012.

Mr Topham, a decorator, and Ms Carrington, an Iceland store supervisor, got married that year and had three children together.

But last night Ms Carrington told a reporter outside her country mansion that she and Mr Topham had broken up, The Sun reports.

She said: ‘Matt doesn’t live here anymore.’

Number’s up for Lotto winners’ marriage as childhood sweethearts who wed after £45million jackpot split after 12 years

Matt Topham and Cassey Carrington, of Lincolnshire, were both just 22 when they struck lucky on the EuroMillions in 2012. Sadly, the couple have now split

Mr Topham has been spotted out and about with his new girlfriend Amy Cox (Pictured outside the London Eye)

When quizzed over whether she had any comment to make on the breakup, she answered: ‘No, thank you.’

Mr Topham, a racing enthusiast, has recently been pictured in his maserati on dates with his new girlfriend Amy Cox.

Other social media pictures show the couple posing outside the London Eye and enjoying a skiing holiday.

Mr Topham has been seen collecting Ms Cox, herself a mother-of-three, from outside a £130,000 terrace home owned by her builder father in a village near Lincoln.

A neighbour told the Sun that Ms Cox, who drives a £5,000 VW Tiguan, is ‘busy looking after her own children’.

The neighbour added they hoped Ms Cox would be happy in her new relationship, before pointing out that she and Mr Topham were rarely seen ‘out and about’.

Another neighbour said: ‘We had no idea he was a lottery winner. He comes around in his Maserati so he must still have a bob or two.’

The reason for Mr Topham and his wife’s split is unknown, although the couple have gone through some turbulent times,

In 2012, Adrian Bayford and wife Gillian scooped £148million on the Euromillions. But the pair split the following year

In 2021, Mr Tophan was handed a 16-week suspended jail term after admitting careless driving over the death of 75-year-old Mary Regler in North Cockerington, Lincolnshire.

Last year, a zoo bought by the couple in Louth, Lincolnshire, named Rushmoor Country Park, ‘shut down’ mid alleged financial strain.

In a possible reference to the split, Mr Topham wrote online: ‘Sometimes, no matter how nice, kind, caring and loving you are, it just isn’t good enough for some people.’

The lottery-winning couple were last pictured together in July 2021 — four months before Mr Topham was sentenced at Lincoln crown court.

His wife has so far refrained from posting any updates about their marriage on social media.

The couple are not the only spouses to have parted ways after winning eye-watering lottery sums.

In 2012, Adrian Bayford and wife Gillian scooped £148million on the Euromillions. But the pair split the following year.

They divided their winnings and Gillian moved back to Scotland, leaving Adrian behind in the former mansion that they used to share in Linton, Cambridgeshire.
