No retreat, no surrender increase our salaries or face our wrath

The group is calling on the government and other unions to treat public sector workers right

A group calling itself Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana (ADAM) has described the 4% and 7% increment salary increment for public sector workers for the 2021 and 2022 working years respectively.

ADAM said the increment is not only an insult to public sector workers but against the promotion of good governance and the welfare of Ghanaian workers.

Executive Secretary Azubila Emmanuel Abdul-Salam speaking on the matter said the percentages announced are inhumane.

Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the Executive Secretary said Ghanaian workers are not treated with respect and it was about time they stage a demonstration to express their displeasure.

He indicated that our leaders are only interested in filling their pockets at the expense of the poor Ghanaian adding, “our leaders are very wicked. They don’t care about Ghanaian workers,” he added.

According to him, the Trades Union Congress and Organised Labour have failed to also represent the interest of public sector workers.

He said despite the COVID-19 outbreak, the government introduced several taxes and yet has failed to give Ghanaian workers reasonable salaries.

The group he announced would stage a demonstration on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, in Tamale to drum home their concerns.

He said Ghanaian workers are struggling to survive with the paltry salaries they are paid.

He cautioned TUC and other unions to desist from compromising their stands for their selfish gains and represent the interest of their workers.
