President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kurt Okraku has stated that no betting company has been authorized to set odds on Ghana Premier League (GPL) matches.
Kurt Okraku announced that the GFA legal team will soon reach out to betting companies who feature GPL matches on their websites.
“We have not licensed any betting company to take odds on our games. We are going to empower our legal department to confront this issue head-on. It is not okay for betting companies to feed on our football.
“It is time to say no to such companies. We are open to doing it the legal way. We will invite companies who want to partner with us to speak to us,” Okraku said during the 30th Ordinary Congress in Prampram.
Kurt Okraku’s move comes as the GFA seeks to clamp down on betting issues in the GPL and also find innovative ways of bringing on board more investors.
The Congress also served as a countdown to the new season, which is scheduled to begin on September 6.
